With his \u00absimple language,\u00bb the Federal Councillor clarifies nothing: he dismisses. By reducing the complexity of our sovereignty to a neighbourly courtesy, Ignazio Cassis exceeds his constitutional mandate. This is no longer diplomacy, it is a reckoning. The verdict must be political: a resignation, without the honours of a pension.<\/strong><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

\u00abIt's really very simple!\u00bb In Geneva, before the assembly of the Federation of Swiss Enterprises, Ignazio Cassis swapped his statesman's suit for that of a travelling salesman for the submission. His response on Bilaterals III is an insult to Swiss intelligence. To tell the \u00abtruth\u00bb, according to him, would mean reducing a colossal legal and political edifice to a matter of mood: \u00abwe want to have a good relationship with our close neighbours.\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Who could oppose a \u00abgood relationship\u00bb? Nobody. And that's where the crude and dangerous trap lies. Behind this fa\u00e7ade of oversimplification lies the methodical dismantling of what makes Switzerland tick: its ability to decide for itself.<\/p>\n

Blackmail as the only compass<\/h3>\n

Mr Cassis is selling us hot air to hide the storm. The Common Understanding<\/em> 2023 leaves no room for doubt: point 11 opens the door to the integration of \u00aball future agreements\u00bb. For those unfamiliar with the Bernese lexicon, this means the European Union will never stop. After the Bilaterals III will come the institutionalisation of the 1972 free trade agreement, then the bringing into line of our financial centre by Brussels regulators.<\/p>\n

At every step, the scenario is pre-written: Brussels brandishes the threat of isolation, and our federal councillors, with trembling hands, explain that we must give in \u00abto save the bilateral path\u00bb. This isn't negotiation, it's constant blackmail, to which Mr Cassis seems to take an almost mystical pleasure in subscribing.<\/p>\n

Switzerland, a future protectorate?<\/h3>\n

When does the \u00abgood relationship\u00bb end? Does it end when our army, already reduced to the bare minimum, is totally beholden to a European defence over which we have no control? Does it end when federalism and cantons are nothing more than folkloric relics in the face of the Commission's imperial directives?<\/p>\n

Ignazio Cassis is acting beyond his mandate. The Constitution enjoins him to preserve the country's independence and security. By inviting the people to vote \u00abyes\u00bb in the name of simple politeness towards our neighbour, he betrays the spirit of our institutions. If he desires accession so much \u2013 because that is the logical conclusion of his \u00absimplicity\u00bb \u2013 let him have the courage to name it. But let him cease disguising vassalisation as regional harmony.<\/p>\n

The time of departure<\/h3>\n

A Federal Councillor who despises issues of sovereignty to the point of no longer managing anything but \u00abfeelings\u00bb of good neighbourliness no longer has a place in the Federal Palace.<\/p>\n

The Swiss people are not children to be told stories to make them swallow a bitter potion. The truth, Mr Cassis, is that you are orchestrating Switzerland's impotence. For this betrayal, for this contempt for the constitutional substance of your office, there is only one way out: resignation. And in a country that respects itself, the grave-digger of the fatherland is not rewarded with a lifelong pension.<\/p>\n

Mr Cassis, you wanted to speak \u00absimply\u00bb? Here's a simple truth for you: your term is over.<\/p>\n
